The Hudson Valley Council Band is chartered to the Wappingers B.P.O. Elks Lodge as Venturer Crew 2609. It operates under the guidelines of the Boy Scouts of America and is in Nimham District of the Hudson Valley Council. Its objective is to meet the six career experiences of Venturing and crew activities: career, fitness, social, leadership, service and outdoors.
"The goal is to encourage children to develop sight reading and music ability," Mr. Richards says. "It helps them in school and builds up their playing ability."
Band membership is coed. Membership to open is anyone 14 years or older and has completed the 8th grade. Adults are welcome. A Minimum of NYSSMA Level 2 or higher is recommended. Our rehearsals take place is at the East Fishkill Community Center, Route 82, Hopewell Jct.
